Give Me Lipstick or Give Me DEATH!

SO....I happened across the fabulousness that is MoptopMaven.blogspot.com. Check it out if you get a chance. She's intellegent, witty and oh so fabulous! And she hit on a beauty trend that I had just started getting into that she and her girls have clearly mastered. Beautiful, bold LIPSTICK! It's an old school staple that hasn't gotten as much love in recent years since the gloss has had its heyday. But on brown skin a beautiful matte lipstick and a fierce smile is just enough to set you apart from the pack. Take these lovely ladies. Oh and I tried the look as well. With Revlon Lustrous Lipstick in Baby Berry a bold deep fuchsia berry pink. Brown skin+bold lips=Dy-no-mite! Enjoy and find a bold color to work on yourself.

Inspired by: Janelle Monae "Cold War"

So I was inspired by the above video. I find her beauty captivating! Her use of simple sculpting techniques to draw attention to her delicate features is amazing. My look isn't a total dupe simply because well...I dont have the hair for one and the intricate lashes for another but other than that I think its pretty close! What do you think?

Covet!

Every now again I'll either suggest or rant about a makeup line that I think has enough bite for their buck and actually is a good product as well. As a diva on a budget and a makeup artist who has to be fully aware of how much I'm paying for a product and how much wear or use I'll get out of it, I love higher end products for quality but would it be great to get comparable quality for something that doesn't bust your wallet? Thought so? SO....here's my first line to covet.....NYX cosmetics!

NYX is every makeup artist and enthusiasts dream. It is an extremely affordable line with prices ranging from $3-$25 for most products. They reviewed by the best and always tend to stand up to the competition aka department store brands. I have an extensive collection of their pigments as shown above and intend to broaden my collection to include a lot more. Their products are awesome and affordable. Can't get no better than that!

Inspiration

Finally my coveted Rainbow eyeshadow in full effect on this stunning model! I love color and this is a full example of why! If your gonna do makeup...you should DO MAKEUP! I'm all for subtle but it takes extra gangsta to do a look like this!

In Case You Aint Know

We all about the natural here on Chatterbox Beauty. I feel as if even with all the blogs on the internet there's still an insatiable need for our beauty to be seen as "good enough" or substantial as our lighter skinned straighter haired sista's. There can never be enough said in my opinion about how beautiful we are as black women JUST THE WAY WE ARE. You wanna add a weave, you wanna rock a wig? Fine by me, just know if you got an inch of hair or if its sweeping your shoulders, your hair in it's kinky curly state is EXPONENTIALLY as beautiful as someone who is not blessed enough to have the privilege of being natural.

Inspiration

Janelle Monae. I'm not only a fan of her musically but her simplistic and bold choices in makeup styles also make me wish I had thicker eyebrows and a big natural I could twist into a pompadour. Shawty's got style and class. We dig it!

Hola!

Hello and welcome to Chatterbox Beauty! Here I will delve into my love for fashion and beauty, but also give the world a glimpse into my life as an aspiring MUA. If your not familiar that means Makeup Artist. It is not only a passion for me but a career path and this will be the first manifestation of the fact that I take it seriously. I've been inspired by many online makeup artists. Some known some unknown. My biggest inspiration is a young lady from California by the name of Lauren but most know her by her online moniker Queen of Blending. Not until she came along did I ever see such a bold brazen play on color and the actual application of color on darker skinned women who have always been told to stay away from such things. That's nonsense, in my humble opinion color looks better on women of darker skin tones than it does on our lighter counterparts. There will be reviews of products and tutorials but mostly a day to day accounting of products I love, techniques and also pictures of My work as well as work that inspires me. To me makeup IS art and should be treated as such.

Peace and love yall
